Background

Dr. Athena E. Ivanoff was appointed Chief Scientific Officer at ZC Institute on February 1,

2023 after completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the National Aeronautical Space

Administration/Universities Space and Research Association, NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio in 2022. With separate B.S. degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Cleveland State University (2012), she is an alumnus of USAT and the Einstein Medical Institute where she received her MD and PhD degree in Quantum Physics and Biomedical Sciences with concentration in bio-

photonics in 2019. She has been active as a researcher for the past 15 years. Her interests are diverse and she has published extensively in various peer-reviewed physics, scientific and

medical journals. Her research skills are comprehensive, including computational modeling and simulation of human physiological organ systems, and materials science. She also has extensive knowledge in laser safety, quantum optics and bio-photonics. In 2020, she was conferred the President’s Lifetime Achievement award by the President of the United States for her research on special needs children with Ring Chromosome 14 Syndrome. As a pioneer of AC electrokinetics in drug delivery, Dr. Ivanoff also holds several patents, including “Methods and Systems Combining AC Electroosmosis with Dielectrophoresis to Enhance Delivery of Active

Agents into Intraoral Structures” and “Wireless Patch System for Transdermal, Transmucosal

and Dental Electrical Drug Delivery”. Current research focus is on gravity-aided amalgamation methods to facilitate nuclear fusion as a sustainable and ecofriendly energy source. As CSO, Dr. Ivanoff will support the global engagement mission of ZC Institute by enhancing and sustaining related education, research, and service.
